The History of Caesars Palace Las Vegas

The renowned Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada, has become an icon of Las Vegas entertainment in the minds of many people. This spectacular entertainment resort features a luxury hotel and casino sitting regally on the infamous Las Vegas strip. Owned by Harrah's Entertainment, Caesars Palace reigns in the City of Sin, featuring five hotel towers with wonderful accommodations, shopping and fine dining spots that define an incredible vacation experience.

The history of Caesars Palace starts back in the mid 1960s, when a savvy hotel owner cut a path building his "cabana" style hotels all the way from Atlanta, Georgia to Palo Alto, California. This hotelier had grand ideas for a luxury hotel and in 1965 construction on his latest idea began in Las Vegas. Sarno wanted an overall royal theme, one that would make people want to come to Caesars Palace and enjoy the opulence and luxury provided there. Construction began on his magical, lavish hotel dream in 1965.

With this kind of dream in mind, Sarno decided on a Roman them for the new hotel. Envisioning how the personification of luxury and decadence would appeal to travelers, he knew that Roman architecture in the hotel with service provided by toga-clad waitresses would be an enticing getaway to many. He perpetuated the idea of decadent luxury even into the name of the hotel, deciding that "Caesars Palace" should not have an apostrophe in the name in order to convey that everyone is a Caesar when visiting the luxury resort. These grand ideas of such extravagant luxury in themes would be copied time and time again in Vegas, to the point that it becomes the theme of Vegas itself.

The opening of Caesars Palace in 1965 was a three-day gala event in which the opening act was a captivating performance with Andy Williams and Phil Richards. Every guest to the new grand hotel was welcomed by a beautiful blonde Cleopatra. Caesars Palace was open for business in style and what style it was. In the years since it's opening, this luxury hotel has become an extravagant holiday resort for vacationers from all over the country, all over the world. Entertainers from Frank Sinatra to Bette Midler, Elton John to Harry Belafonte to magicians such as David Copperfield to the lovely Celine Dion have performed at Caesars Palace, carrying forth the magic of entertainment in a dramatic and dazzling setting. The goal of a Las Vegas vacation is accomplished when visiting this resort, for it takes extravagant to a whole new level.
